Therapist Code of Ethics (CAPA):

CAPA, or the Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association of NSW Incorporated, generally regulates the conduct of Therapists in New South Wales. Generally the Therapists Code of Conduct relates to:

• Respect the essential humanity, worth and dignity of all people;
• Honour the trust placed in us by our members and protect the integrity of that relationship;
• Recognise and respect cultural, religious and sexual diversity among all people.
• Oppose discrimination, oppressive and other unjust behaviour.
• Are required to familiarise themselves with the restrictions and demands of our client’s cultural, sexual and religious backgrounds;
• Respect the privacy of our clients by preserving the confidentiality of their information;
• Protect the rights of, and promote the responsibilities of our clients.
• Foster competence and good governance by ongoing training and supervision;
• Abide by the laws of the State of NSW.
