Repairing a credit record involves the removal of entries on a credit history that are unfair, contested or otherwise disputed. An applicant for a loan will have their financial record reviewed by a potential lender.
Disputed entries on an applicant’s credit record will have potentially damaging consequences for the loan application to be granted. This may unfairly prejudice the applicant’s chances of obtaining a loan.
Fixing a negative credit rating (often referred to as a ‘bad credit rating”) is often the last thing on an individual’s mind when they conduct business. Understandably, often people may not be fully aware of the issues that are involved when the question of credit repair becomes relevant. As a consequence, there are many misconceptions about the rights and liabilities of the “credit impaired.”
Australia is one of the few jurisdictions in the world that follows a negative credit rating system. For this reason, it is not true that borrowing small amounts or arranging for small interest rate accounts can avoid a poor credit history. Bad credit history is bad credit history, irrespective of the magnitude of debt; what is relevant is the individual’s reliability to repay a loan. Repaying a debt does not mean that the bad credit history disappears: the history is still there and may be considered relevant to future lenders who will then have to decide whether it is worth for them to risk lending the individual or applicant any money or otherwise extending credit to the applicant.
Perhaps most depressingly, credit providers will use computerised models to assess whether or not to provide a service to a loan applicant. This means that the process is mechanical, clinical and there is little room to argue that a poor credit rating history is not representative of your present reliability.
Processes are in place for repair of credit ratings. Navado Lawyers and Solicitors can assist in the procedural and administrative legal steps that need to be taken to ensure that all errors, mistakes and unfair, incorrect and contested or disputed information is removed.
