The Australian Maritime Safety Authority enforces regulations pertaining to all registered commercial vessels. It may be the case that each commercial vessel must abide by their home and operating state's legislations, and any codes enforced by their operating company. At Navado, we may be able to assist in clarifying the obligations of a commercial vessel and the expectations/ standards which may apply.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority regulates the licensing of a commercial vessel. When undertaking an assessment for the purpose of considering an application for a license, the Authority will consider the:

  • Seaworthiness of the vessel;
  • Life saving appliances available;
  • Fire fighting appliances available; and
  • Safety management system.

At Navado we may be able to assist you in applying for a license to operate a commercial vessel and preparing business documents to reflect and correspond to your legal obligations and applicable standards. Further, we may be able to assist you in relation to a dispute arising from an allegation of non compliance.

If you are unsure of your obligations or rights in relation to commercial boat requirements, or if you have had contact with the regulating body in relation to alleged breaches of these requirements, we recommend that you call our firm on (02) 9233 4048 or send an email to info@navado.com.au and arrange an appointment to see one of our Compliance & Regulatory Law Solicitors.
