Suspension of Licence:

The suspension of your driver’ licence can occur for a number of reasons. Often, a person’ drivers licence will be suspended if they commit a serious driving offence such as High Range Drink Driving or drive whilst under the influence of drugs. The Police can suspend you from driving ‘on the spot’ or the Roads and Maritime Service (“RMS”, formerly the “RTA”) can issue you with a Notice of Suspension of your Driver’ Licence.

You should note that where you are suspended from driving, you cannot drive any motor vehicle during the suspension period. The penalties if you get caught driving a motor vehicle during the suspension period may include: significant fines; a further period of licence disqualification;   possibly a term of imprisonment.
