A Registered Training Organisation (“RTO”) is a training provider who has been registered with ASQA and is authorised to provide vocational and educational training courses. ASQA regulates the RTOs and monitors compliance with the applicable standards with the aim to maintain the quality of training offered by RTOs to its students.
If an RTO fails to comply with the standards, sanctions are available to ASQA. The appropriate sanction may depend on the nature of the breach by the RTO and the history of compliance by the RTO. Available sanctions include the RTO having to satisfy additional conditions in order to maintain its registration with ASQA, and the suspension or cancellation of their registration with ASQA.
If you operate an RTO and seek advice on your obligations, or if you are being investigated by ASQA we recommend that you contact our office and arrange an appointment to see one of our Compliance & Regulatory Law Solicitors in our Sydney office. By appointment, we can also arrange a time for you to see one of our lawyers in one of our branch offices. For a complete listing please see our "Locations" tab.
