Clubs NSW enforces a Code of Practice against each one of its clubs, which operates in conjunction with their Best Practice Guidelines. It may be the case that each registered club must abide by their own Constitution, the Code of Practice in addition to a wide range of legislation.

The Code of Conduct may relate to matters such as:

  • Board elections;
  • Complaints handling;
  • Conducting disciplinary proceedings;
  • Financial reporting and benchmarking club performance;
  • Executive remunerations;
  • Procurement of goods, services, and major capital works;
  • Overseas travel; and
  • Board operations.

At Navado, we may be able to advise as to the relevant legislation that applies and the broader obligations with which your club must comply. We may also be able to assist where there has been an allegation of non-compliance or a dispute which may affect the registration of your club or the existence of your club. Navado also has experience in applying for licenses and drafting corporate documents which reflect and comply with any mandatory obligations by which the club is bound.

If you are a patron, member of the public or stakeholder of a club and are concerned about the conduct or non compliance of the club, we may be able to assist in pursuing your complaint and advising as to any potential grounds for claim that you may have.

If you require assistance in relation to a club's compliance, we recommend that you contact our firm on (02) 9233 4048 or send an email to info@navado.com.au and arrange an appointment to see one of our Compliance & Regulatory Law Solicitors.
