The Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission regulates the compliance of charities with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission Act 2012 and supporting Regulations 2013. The general terms of the Act which may be important include:

  • Record- keeping;
  • Classification;
  • Information statements;
  • Reporting;
  • Definitions of charities;
  • Compliance with accounting protocols; and
  • Auditing.

At Navado we may be able to assist you in setting up your charity or not-for-profit organisation and in preparing any relevant license applications and documentation necessary to comply with your statutory obligations under the above Act and Regulations. If you have received notification of an alleged contravention of the Act or Regulations, we can advise you as to your position and assist in responding to such allegations in the most appropriate manner.

If you have a dispute against a charity or not-for-profit organisation arising from their failure to comply with their statutory obligations, Navado can advise as to any potential claim you may have and of other avenues that may be available to pursue this dispute further.
