With the introduction of Uber, and other rideshare schemes, the NSW Government through the Transport Roads and Maritime Services is gradually introducing reforms which will be completed by around 2017. Presently, until such reform is implemented, it is generally the case that the following regulations must be complied with:

  • Hold a valid Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) Driver Authority (DA) issued by Roads and Maritime Services;
  • Register your vehicle for business use at a Service NSW centre or registry;
  • Ensure that the car you use to provide services is roadworthy and maintained appropriately.

At Navado, we may be able to assist you in complying with present regulatory schemes and to assist you if any dispute arises in relation to alleged noncompliance. Additionally, if you work in the rideshare industry, or have concerns in relation to rideshare rights, we may be able to assist you as the NSW Government continues their transition to the updated regulations.

If you are unsure of your obligations or rights in relation to Private Hire Vehicles, or if you have had contact with the regulating body in relation to alleged breaches of the Regulation, we recommend that you call our firm on (02) 9233 4048 or send an email to info@navado.com.au and arrange an appointment to see one of our Compliance & Regulatory Law Solicitors.
