The Mental Health Tribunal is a Government body in New South Wales, constituted under the Mental Health Act 2007. The main purpose of the Mental Health Tribunal is to hear appeals, make orders, review orders and conduct mental health inquiries. Some matters which are dealt with by the Mental Health Tribunal include but are not limited to;
- Making and revoking Community Treatment Orders;
- Refusal to discharge patients;
- Make and authorise Involuntary Patient Orders;
- Review Involuntary Patients;
- Review Voluntary Patients;
- Review cases involving persons found to be unfit for trial; and
- Review cases involving persons to be found not guilty by reason of mental illness.
