Dental Complaints:

Overview FAQs Articles Locations

A complaint is generally a statement of dissatisfaction. People usually make a complaint in the hope that the issue is resolved. In respect of dental complaints, a person may be unsatisfied about the services provided by a dentist, dental assistance or other persons working at the dentist’s practice.

There are several reasons a person may make a dental complaint, including but not limited to:

  • Professional misconduct;
  • Negligence in the performance of their duties;
  • Hygiene concerns about the dentist or dental practice;
  • Misdiagnosis of disease;
  • The use of incorrect treatment and/or surgeries;
  • Inappropriate relationships with patient; and
  • Injuries sustained from dental procedures.

If you have a complaint about a dentist or a person(s) working in the dental practice it is recommended you speak with a Medical Lawyer. Our Sydney Medical Lawyers can discuss any concerns you have, advise on options available with respect to your complaint and your prospects of success, can assist in preparing a complaint on your behalf and provide legal representation.

If you are a dental professional and a complaint has been made about you, we recommend you also seek legal advice from a Medical Lawyer as soon as possible. Our Medical Lawyers can assist you by reviewing the complaint made about you or your dental practice, provide you with a legal understanding of your rights and obligations in respect of the complaint made, strategically develop avenues to resolve the complaint and if necessary represent you in Court or a Tribunal, should the complaint become litigated.
