Overview FAQs Articles Locations

The NSW Industrial Relations Commission (“IRC”) was established by the Industrial Relations Act and was granted jurisdiction to deal with workplace matters in NSW, conciliate and arbitrate disputes, fix conditions of employment including wages and salaries through awards, approve Enterprise Agreements, determine unfair dismissal complaints and to provide support to the Cabinet and Parliament.

The broad jurisdiction of the IRC extends to hear disciplinary appeals by employees engaged in the NSW public sector such as local and state government employees as well as appeals by Police about the refusal to have an injury or illness classified as work related. Internal appeals from decisions made by a single Member of the IRC to a Full Bench are also available on questions of law.

Our team of Solicitors at Navado can assist if you have a workplace dispute or claim. We can confirm if the IRC, or other judicial body has jurisdiction to deal with your matter, whether you are eligible to make a claim and your prospects of success. As time limits may apply to the filing of your application, we recommend that you seek legal advice as soon as the issue arises or you receive notification of any contested change to your employment.
