Electrical Compliance:

Overview FAQs Articles Locations

In NSW it may be the case that Electrical Compliance Requirements may be administered by New South Wales Fair Trading. It may be likely that Electricians must submit a Certificate of Compliance for electrical work (CCEW) under the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 and Electricity Consumer Safety) Regulation 2015. Generally compliance requirements may include:

  • Type of installation;
  • Form of work completed;
  • Special Conditions;
  • Earthing integrity;
  • Residual Currency Device operation;
  • Insulation resistance;
  • Visual inspection;
  • Polarity;
  • Compliance with AS4509;
  • Correct Current Connections; and
  • Fault Loop Impendance.

At Navado, we may be able to assist you if you have been notified of an alleged breach of code which results in disciplinary action, where you have been notified by one of the above boards, or others. Additionally if you think that you have grounds to enforce action for an electrician’s noncompliance, we would further encourage you to contact us.

If you are unsure of your obligations or rights in relation to compliance, or if you have had contact with the regulating body in relation to alleged breaches of the Regulation, we recommend that you call our firm on (02) 9233 4048 or send an email to info@navado.com.au and arrange an appointment to see one of our Compliance & Regulatory Law Solicitors.
