Broadcasting & the Media:

In Australia it is generally the case that broadcasting and the media are regulated for its ownership, content and advertising.

With respect to ownership, licensing may be necessary in order to operate. At Navado we may be able to assist you in relation to an application for a license and advising on any avenue for appeal should the application be rejected.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority regulates media content including complaints in relation thereto. If you are dissatisfied with the response that has been received to your complaint, or if a complaint has been made about your advertisement or publication, Navado may be able to assist in this process.

If your business advertises, then your business may be bound to advertise in accordance with the codes produced by the Advertising Standards Bureau. The Bureau itself administers a number of different codes which include those drafted by:

• Australian Association of National Advertisers;
• Federal Chamber Of Automotive Industries; and
• Australian Food & Grocery Council.

In relation to the above codes, the Bureau outlines specific conditions relating to advertisement in specific industries, to specific audiences and in relation to certain content including:

• Food and beverage industry;
• Advertising to children;
• Motor vehicles;
• Quick service restaurants;
• Environmental claims; and
• Wagering.
