When an individual is employed, the first $6,000 of their yearly income is not subject to any tax. This is known as the tax free threshold. If you have more than one job, you can only claim the tax free threshold from one employer. It is advisable to claim the tax free threshold from your main employer (i.e. the employer that pays the highest salary/wage). Income from your second job will be taxed at a higher rate.
