Consumer Law

Since the infamous snail in a bottle case (Donoghue v Stevenson), the law has been rapidly progressing and evolving towards the concept of consumer protection against commercial suppliers. Fundamentally, over the course of the past few decades, the law has come to recognise the inequality in bargaining power and knowledge that exists between consumer and retailer and there are now a range of remedies and forms of relief accessible by consumers.

Our Consumer Protection Lawyers can provide assistance in your consumer law dispute, including in the following areas:

  • Breach of warranty
  • Duty of care
  • Faulty goods or defective goods
  • Misleading and deceptive conduct
  • Negligence and medical negligence
  • Unconscionable conduct
  • Unfit for purpose

There are a variety of ways to deal with consumer disputes. Our Consumer Lawyers can assist you whether you wish to negotiate directly with the supplier, lodge a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading, lodge a complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, apply to the CTTT (Consumer Trade and Tenancy Tribunal) or apply to have the matter heard in Court.
